    >Wham!’s festive song Last Christmas never got to number one in the year of its release 1984, but it has scored a historical first, becoming the first track to occupy the festive chart’s top slot for a second consecutive year.

    >40 years after its debut, the song penned by George Michael beat off competition by Mariah Carey, Gracie Abrams, Tom Grennan and Ariana Grande to top the chart. This follows its success in reaching the same position last year, following a campaign by Wham! fans

That song is timeless, and could be #1 in another 40 years.

Gotta admit, I didn’t know GM wrote it…the guy was a talent.

Ok, American here, what is this Christmas hit list? I know vaguely of it from Love Actually, where it seems like a big deal to be the “best Christmas song” that year. Is it from radio requests, or radio plays, or is there a poll or something? What’s the prize?

Fairytale Of New York by The Pogues is a better song, I will die on this hill!
