I forget what I watched that showed air defense operations on a cruiser and the difficulty of target identification when things are hot.

Amazing this hasn’t happened in 14 months with everything the Navy has been doing.

Bless our sailors – a couple careers will end because of this and, though I get it, it sucks.

The F/A-18 was shot by weapons from the guided-missile cruiser the USS Gettysburg after taking off from the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier on Dec. 22. Both Navy aviators were able to eject from the fighter jet and were recovered safely. One of the two sustained minor injuries, according to CENTCOM.

Imagine screwing up so bad you shoot down an aircraft from your navy

Wow, imagine if Israel did this… we’re still reminded, frequently and super aggressively, about the USS Liberty… now, 60 years of technology development later, the Americans are still shooting their own planes down…

If it wasn’t a super hornet then it was expendable anyway. But still guys. Wear your glasses?

Friendly fire or ” blue on blue” is a universal occurrence in war. No one was killed, which makes this a learning opportunity, not a disaster.

The only reason this happened is due to the fact that airspace is regularly filled with Houthi missiles.  It’s time we start taking this threat more seriously.  Iran has been holding that entire region hostage for nearly a decade now.

Some poor E-3 is going to get fucked over because the officers take care of each other.

The headline was written poorly. I hoped the Navy that shot the F/A-18 in the Red Sea down wasn’t the US Navy… So many countries have a “Navy”… Odd that the headline names which sea but not which Navy. Click bait.
