It’s almost like Hollywood functions based on mostly outward appearance. How odd!
Yea neither am I LOL. Trick is to just not give a fucking shit about it anymore.
Getting paid bad either
Just women?
Ask Jonah Hill
It just seems soul-crushing.
And yet the glamor shots they actively promote and willingly sign up for focus on physical attributes. Seems like being on screen has a high correlation with physical attributes. Or perhaps the masses will decide they’d prefer a regular slightly out of shape guy like me for James Bond, but that’s not something I’d pay to see frankly.
OMG I’m so sorry for her
This post has been live only 30 minutes and already it’s attracting comments from dry-dick greasy woman hating virgins 😬
I mean they do the same thing to guys, Florence. Anyone remember them calling Jason Momoa and Timothy Chalamet fat?
She’s not wrong. The headlines she’s referring to sound awful.
But don’t choose a career that requires you to be in front of a camera if you don’t want people to comment and judge you on your appearance. Even friggin’ Mr. Rogers would’ve been dragged if he’d gained fifty pounds. Also, millions of folks would love to have their voices amplified by a fawning press. Bore the press with pleas for charitable giving and social justice if you are annoyed by them – they hate that shit.
I still would like to reiterate that she’s not wrong.
Here’s where streaming providers are starting to be different and offer more actors of all ages, attributes and, languages and ethnic groups a voice and opportunity. I’ve seen more shows from more parts of the world with actors I’d otherwise never have known or seen.
The problem may be the hyper competitive bubble of Hollywood, where you have to play the game to be a contender.
Sure, you get paid less to be in frankly much more interesting subject matter, but it’s an opportunity many would otherwise never get.
The future looks brighter for many, but maybe not in Hollywood. But what does that really represent in the grand scheme of the world after all?
This new era of pr victimhood is obnoxious
Pretty sure variety are the people who made that headline
You know what else is exhausting? Working in a factory to feed your kids. I’ll gladly take the millions and millions of dollars to hear someone tell me “I’m not thin anymore”
If you’ve managed to have a successful career in Hollywood how are stupid headlines even a blip on your radar?
Who cares? No most people aren’t going to be gung-ho to see a movie where either love interest is fat because it makes the story less believable. Nobody’s watching a movie where the female or the male love interest is 300lbs because that’s how wired.
I bet it’s tough, but looks are a major part of how they became rich and famous in the first place. So it’s a kind of a catch 22. If looks didn’t matter as much, they may have been passed by for a better actor who didn’t meet contemporary standards.
My job relies on intellect and hard work, and if I slack or lose focus, other people get ahead of me. I’d be nice if it wasn’t as tough, but life on planet has always been tough.
I guess I have a degree of sympathy, but then I think about the Woody Harrellson gif where he’s wiping his tears with money. They can easily afford trainers, surgeons, chefs. I guess use them?
I understand most Americans have to be a victim to feel cool or morally just these days, so these wealthy elites will always come out crying about something, but it’s just as bad down here in the real world, and we don’t have fame or fortune.
Knightley looks healthier and more attractive.
Can she shut up for a second? Like look in what industry you are working.
They’ve all been saying this for decades and keep signing up for it. All these people who hate Hollywood should band their resources together and create something outside of it.
Or don’t. We got our own shit to worry about.
