  1. Eleven months into 2024, Tesla recorded a double-digit decrease in registrations, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA), which released official figures for November.

To be clear, Tesla is still the largest EV manufacturer in Europe and the United States, but its grip is weakening on the other side of the Atlantic. Last month, Tesla recorded a 40.9% decrease in registrations in the European Union compared to the same month last year. The number of registrations went from 31,810 in November 2023 to 18,786 last month, marking a decrease in market share from 3.6% to 2.2%

The automaker’s losses can be attributed to a number of factors, including the increasingly controversial attitude of its CEO, Elon Musk, and the decrease in government incentives. Some European states have reduced the amount of money offered toward the purchase of a new EV, while others have eliminated the incentives altogether.

  2. Wow, 18k registrations seems pretty good despite all the bad press they received.

So Elon Musk keep actively threatening the unions and social security in Europe and Europe doesn’t even has the courage to impose some balls heating taxes but instead letting him to takeover European market. Thank you Europe!

Elon Hitler is poison to his consumer base – Tesla is dead. SpaceX would never have existed if it didn’t stand on the shoulders of NASA and then proclaim a victory for the (subsidized) private sector.
It’s now a race between the diminished intellectual capacity of the American voter and Elon’s 3rd generation fascism to see whether humanity survives this particular wave of oligarchic bullshit and lives to battle the next.

Could it be because of Elon? Seems like a great oligarch to me. Am I missing something?

I can guarantee very few people in the EU care about Elon that much not to buy the best EVs on the domestic market.

This is purely driven by lack of the government incentives, mainly German one.

Good. The sooner we get rid of dependence on American electric cars and focus on strengthening ties with Chinese manufacturers, the better.

Being the most unlikable motherfucker on the planet tends to make that happen

Tanking in Europe is like fishing in Mediterranean. Unlikely to end well.

In the age of electric cars only the US and China are clear leaders, everyone else fell behind. If Tesla cannot bring down their price to BYD level then its a problem. The power of brand is not as entrenched with EVs as they are with ICE. The only other way to stop the Chinese is by trade barriers.

Nobody wants to be reminded what an asshole is making money with your purchase every time you get into your car.
