This is a 20 second time exposure using my homemade tracker counters ISS attitude change in the pitch axis so time exposures show stars as points instead of streaks. Without this tracker, about half a second exposure is the longest. The orange part is the f-region of our atmosphere due to emissions from atomic oxygen and OH radicals.

I can only imagine what it’s like to be up there, closer than anyone to an ocean of stars, feeling the vulnerability of our species – the vastness of the cosmos is strangely comforting, and humbling (at least for myself) when dealing with issues in life.

Always appreciate your posts – plus, back in the days of dial-up, saying you could get high-resolution photos and the thoughts of people zipping around Earth on an orbiting space station would get you laughed out of the room.
