I’m glad this gentleman received a strong penalty to send the message that homophobic abuse and attacks on politicians WILL be tolerated.

I’m sure his employer will thank him for attending in his company jacket

Nice of him to wear his work wear to court. No such thing as bad publicity, eh?

Would prison not be a bit extreme, like it’s not a violent attack. Now for yes an agree he should not lay a hand on him, but there was no bodily harm, like it’s not a crime to be a dick no?

Going by the logo on his jacket he seems to work for a home retrofitting company. That industry is thriving because of the Greens work in government. He should have been shaking O’Gorman’s hand.

    6. > Green Party leader Roderic O’Gorman was grabbed by the shoulders, called a “big fairy” and told to leave an estate as he was canvassing during the general election, a court heard.

But a bunch of people on here were certain this couldn’t be homophobic.

Jailed for pushing someone, calling them a big fairy and breaking their clip board. I have seen numerous horrific assault that did not result in jail….what’s the difference?
