>This contract, which allows the military to purchase satellite services from commercial providers, recently saw its ceiling raised [from $900 million to $13 billion](https://spacenews.com/pentagons-commercial-satellite-internet-services-program-soars-to-13-billion/), reflecting increased demand for satellite communications capabilities.
“Starlink is now seen as an indispensable asset throughout the entire government sector, from U.S. embassies to the battlefield,” the Quilty report stated. “Starlink’s government sector momentum shows no sign of a slowdown.”
The momentum is building, any regulatory and permitting roadblocks in the way of multiple Starship launches and launch sites are going to be greatly reduced or even eliminated in the coming years, starting pretty soon. The change was already starting with the increase from 6 to 25 flights from Boca Chica and the very recent FAA announcement about accepting range safety assessments for each launch and not requiring duplicative ones of their own.
It’s been apparent for a long time (to some) that the military loves SpaceX for a variety of reasons, from reduced launch costs to the unimaginable increase in their comms capability that Starlink gives them. They want the big Starlink version up there asap.
