I lived on Gozo some years ago and someone from Morocco stayed with me. He said he could understand most of what was being said once he became used to the accent.

i think it depends on if they understand or speak arabic. If yes, then most likely they can understand a majority of what we say. iirc north africa has people who speak for example Tuareg languages, mainly in algeria and libya, though in the inner parts of the desert rather than the coast.
