SS: Pragati K.B., Anupreeta Das, and Saif Hasnat, writing for *The New York Times*, highlight that escalating India-Bangladesh tensions, driven by accusations of Hindu persecution in Bangladesh, threaten to destabilize Bangladesh’s interim government led by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus. The diplomatic rift, fueled by protests and allegations on both sides, has ignited fears of retaliatory communal violence and risks upending Bangladesh’s fragile political transition after the ousting of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Arrests, violent protests, and inflammatory rhetoric have further strained relations, with analysts attributing the discord to India’s unease with the new administration as both nations navigate a precarious moment in their bilateral history.

The Independent article puts it well. I will leave it here as saying anything would trigger some people. NYT has been disappointing in its reporting.

As for the attack in Tripura, people were angry with the Interim government blaming the state government for releasing water deliberately when it was due to massive rain that pretty much washed off Tripura also. Not saying that justifies anything but when you gaslight a state and show that they deliberately did something to inflict plain for which they suffered the most, people are naturally going to be angry. And Tripura used to be the friendliest state towards Bangladesh.
