    From The Times:

France’s prime minister Michel Barnier has lost the vote of confidence and will have to resign.

In a historic vote, the motion against Barnier was backed by 331 of the 577 MPs in the National Assembly. The result was announced by Yaël Braun-Pivet, the speaker. She said the draft budget bill was therefore considered to have been rejected.

Parties of left and right unite to bring down minority government over an austerity budget in a blow to President Emmanuel Macron.

Just before the result of the vote was revealed it was announced that President Macron had returned from a visit to Saudi Arabia, and has said he will name a new prime minister within 24 hours.
