    TL/DR: Ich habe mich für eine sehr günstige Wohnung in Deutschland beworben und habe mit den nach London gezogenen „Hausbesitzern“ korrespondiert.

      Indications to look for: The family does not live in the country that they own the house.
      They hire “international agents”

      They need **only** ID. Usually legit emails ask you for 3 months salary or Schupfa thingy.

      They keys are in custody in London.

      Rule of thumb: If they are telling you their whole livestory, it is a scam.

      Scam. They will use the copy of your ID to scam other people.

      There is a lot of competition for a flat. If the landlord doesn’t want to see you in person to make a selection among candidates (because they want low-maintenance tenants), it’s a scam. If you need to pay money before you have the key in your hand, it’s a scam.

      New rule of Thomb: if it feels Like Scam, it is propably a Scam! When something feels to good to be true… you can bet your pelvis that it isn‘t true!

      100% scam. Also doesn’t make sense: „We don’t have time for this, so we hired a company to manage *the entire* process for us. This is why *we* write you this long email and ask you to send *us* all information that we then have to process.“
