What would the reason be for so many south korean suicides?

  2. Is it rising in South Africa? In the last 5 years, 6 classmates from University committed suicide.

OP, How is South Korea topping out your suicide list but moderate on your depression list?

    Are they happily offing themselves?

Genuinely surprised the UK is that low considering we’re known for being depressed and gloomy

I don’t know how accurate this is. The data is supposed to be for 2021, but the WHO report from 2019 has totally different numbers:

    Lesotho 87.5

    Guyana 40.9

    Eswatini 40.5

    Kiribati 30.6

    Micronesia 29.0

    Suriname 25.9

    Zimbabwe 23.6

    South Africa 23.5

    Mozambique 23.2

    Central African Republic 23.0

  7. The WHO has a fairly different [data set ](https://www.who.int/data/gho/data/themes/mental-health/suicide-rates)on suicide rates by country from only a year earlier, with Lesotho and Guyana being the nations with the highest suicide rates. I’d be interested to see how the WHO and OECD differ methodologically in how they sourced or calculated the data. The [European Commission ](https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/web/products-eurostat-news/w/edn-20240909-1)also reports quite different rates compared to OECD data for Europe.
