  1. This is weird because its not an ethnic map but it also is

    (shows where Poles live)

but then also just shows the Russian Empire, Yugoslavia, but then shows ethnic minorities in Romania/Bulgaria

  2. sjedinjenoStanje on

    Serbs and…Serbo-Croats lol

    Serbo-Croat isn’t an ethnicity, it’s (arguably) only a language.

  3. Looking at this, I also think that the current Russian-Ukrainian war is ultimately a delayed civil war after the collapse of the Soviet Union, similar to the Yugoslav Civil War.

First, there is the Communist Party’s mistake of combining the Little Russia region, which was close to Russia’s identity, and Galicia, which had a different identity, into one republic. The reason why this is important is that the Ukrainian nationalism we knew was all formed in that brown region.

Then we can think about this. A kind of identity is important in order to run a country. After Ukraine gained independence from the Soviet Union, it projected the identity of the brown region to all of Ukraine in order to run the country. However, this was not easy, and that is why political divisions occurred within Ukraine. In particular, there was strong opposition to it in the Donbas region, where Russian identity was strong. This led to the organization of rebels in Donbas, which became the Ukrainian Civil War.

Putin’s dictatorship took advantage of this opportunity to take over Ukraine, and this is the truth of the Ukraine-Russia War that began two years ago.
