      Crockett County Texas (big blue Texas county near the border) being 62% Hispanic in that location and still somehow swinging left from 2020 to 2024 is wild

      You can see what I called the “Helene” effect in Western North Carolina in the mountains. Those counties are as red as West Virginia outside of Asheville and Boone, yet they were less Trump in 2024 than in 2016.

      My hypothesis is that the “city” centers, which are more Democrat, were repaired first and the outlying rural areas of Appalachia are still not repaired, making it easier to vote in urban areas than in rural.

      I hate maps like this. They distort reality.

      Counties don’t vote. People vote. I much prefer maps that scale the county area based on the population.

      I really wish would only use the maps that do not fill in all the land where NO ONE lives.

      These maps that fill in all the land in color are creating false precedents in multiple ways.
