      Beef has been going up for some time. And while beef is expensive, the price of ground beef is crazy.

      As the Canadian Dollar weakens against USD, food inflation will continue to get worse. We need to stop screwing over foreign CAD holders or they won’t hold it.

      It’s pure comedy walking past the beef section. I wonder how much gets sold compared to how much gets destroyed when it doesn’t sell, because it’s too fucking expensive.

      Like everything meat is a racket. Canada is plagued by price fixing. This is what happens with only a few monopolies in control of 70-90% of the entire market.

      Today I bought 2 nicely marbled Australian strip loins for $12 at sobeys. I haven’t seen steak at that price since 2019. It will probably kill me but I’ll go out happy.

      And don’t get me started on how a steak from a Canadian cow is $30 a pound but an equivalent steak from an Australian cow on the other side of planet earth is 1/4 the price.

      Our local Sobeys is importing Australian beef, it’s 1/3 of the price and twice the quality

      I was going to buy a roast to make a pot of chili today. $90. At Costco prices.

      Anyone that thinks the carbon tax isn’t costing them should look into the impact is has on farming (no I’m not talking about diesel).

      Just bought a whole cow about a month ago off one of our local ranchers. Was about 4K all in but split 4 ways it will get eaten in time, and will be far better quality than slaughterhouse special.

      I miss steak.  Used to regularly have strip loin, now it’s a treat to have at birthdays.
