Is HobbyHall.fi legit? Found a Fjalraven Kanken bag for 32€ there…

It is, pretty legendary already. They used to send catalogs for mail ordering back in the day.

It’s basically a part of some nordic aliexpress-type sales platform, that product is sold by some random company so I wouldn’t put it past that it’s a knock-off. I’ve had good experiences with them, but it’s one of those places where you want to read the descriptions carefully. Might want to do so in the case of this bag as well, as the manufacturer or brand is not mentioned.

You can get some brand product from there cheaper than you’d find anywhere else, but they also sell a lot of junk.

Hell, bought a makita chainsaw from there for cheaper than it was anywhere else and that was a nice surprise.

It’s an old store, which used to be good, but at some point the owner changed and there’s been lots of problems lately. Do check Trustpilot (1.5 stars of 5) or a similar site before you decide to order.

Hobbyhall used to be a longstanding mail order company in Finland, later owned by Stockmann. Around ten years ago it was sold to an Estonian online sales company and it’s now a sales platform like Amazon.

I’ve also ordered from the “new” HobbyHall. They are just another mediocre online shop, they try to cut corners by optimizing everything (but not really well at least not from the customers point of view). Which means, it’s not a scam, but they have inconsistent stock, long delivery times etc… do look at the trustpilot revies.

As for the price of the backpack: that’s not especially cheap. This is a bit opinionated, but by buying any Fjällräven Kånken, you are paying for the brand mainly and not that much of quality or design. I.e. they are a bit overpriced, they probably have a lot of margin for profit in their price; they are really similar to any other backpack made for cheap.

The 32€ you are seeing here is probably just the price minus the “brand fee”; they are probably selling an old model or very small surplus stock here for cheaper than usual.

So, my recommendation is: if you like the backpack, then order it.

That price of 32 is much lower than the stock purchase price Fjällräven gives to retailers, so the only way in which it could make sense is if the seller is basically bankrupt and trying to liquidize as much of their stock as possible.

The Kånken is a product that has a lot of pirate versions out on market, and I would bet money this is a case of just that.

It is a legit market place, but you should check who is the actual seller of the item.

Hobby Hall are not selling that backpack. The seller “Zyawe” is selling it on the Hobby Hall site. Hobby Hall is legitimate but individual sellers can be scammy. I checked Zyawe’s company profile. Registered in France, an Outlook email, and also known as “Zyanhg llc”. That leads to a brand new Shopify store with oddly low prices registered recently. Avoid!
