A breakdown of where my income from my PhD stipend goes each month. Inspired by the post earlier today I wanted to see how my spending would shake out presented like this.
I’ve put in some rough estimates based on the last few months of where my “wants” spending goes, but those aren’t as strictly budgeted as the chart suggests.
The PhD stipend has its benefits (tax free!) as well as its drawbacks (close to minimum wage or less even, no pension contributions). I supplement with intermittent teaching work which is available during term time, which I have averaged out across 12 months based on whats usually available.

It’s interesting that the top post right now is [[OC] My income and spending (25m, UK, living with parents)](https://www.reddit.com/r/dataisbeautiful/comments/1gzix9w/oc_my_income_and_spending_25m_uk_living_with/), which inspired me and most likely you to post our own, but we’re getting downvoted lol.
