Heute vor 96 Jahren ging Percy Metcalfes „Irish Hunter“-Design für die Halbkrone in Produktion und brachte kurz darauf eine der schönsten irischen Münzen aller Zeiten in Umlauf.

I was looking at giving this a go and looked into fret saws. What TPI do you use?

Nominal value seeing as I’ve just looked it up:

      2 shillings(12) + 6 = 30 old (pre-decimal) pence

      30/240 = 12.5 decimal pence

      x 0.787564 = 9.84455 cents

Feeling generous, let’s say 10 cents

(Yes I know they’re worth more than nominal value)

They should start putting these designs on the back of €2 coins. Especially the last 1p and 2p designs

it is such a shame we let go of the metcalfe designs..

personnally think the hen, the sow and the hare are nicers designs but each to their own.

we should make it an election issue
