      No we aren’t if you read the news. It’s discussing a specific portion of a treaty and no position was taken on leaving. Stop misinforming people and trying to cause a bigger issue than it actually is.

      A single general stating anything isn’t a country wide discussion or statement. He can’t choose to leave a treaty that’s up to the state.

      Taking into account Finland’s reckless neighbor, I was surprised why Finland joined the Ottawa treaty in the first place. And why not leave it right away in 2014 or at least in 2022.

      Finland is not discussing leaving the Ottawa convention. The article outlines the opinion of a single general, and even he says that he doesn’t actually take a position on the matter.

      To be honest, I don’t really see the benefit for Finland to be part of the Ottawa treaty. In the case of a war, we still will need to do a lot of de-mining, since Russia has not signed the treaty and makes extensive use of infantry mines. Including indiscriminately dropping mines from the air.
