There was a controlled explosion at the US embassy in London this morning after a suspicious bag was discovered, perhaps the ‘security incident’ at Gatwick Airport is related?

Hopefully not Russia. Because this is the sort of hybrid war that they will conduct.

Looks like Russia could be playing games. Lets see if this is the case. If so, I would expect MI6 to cause mayhem in Russia in similar or perhaps more disruptive ways, as a reciprocal act.

Similar incident just happened in Glasgow on Wednesday at Buchanan Bus Station

Ah, someone must’ve rolled up with a copy of Mr Blobby’s hit Xmas single in there then.

  6. “Sussex Police issued a statement saying an Explosive Ordnance Disposal team was dispatched to the airport “as a precaution” following the discovery of a suspected prohibited item in luggage”

My bet is someone has got something like a ‘deactivated’ WW2 grenade in their hand luggage as a souvenir but not got the appropriate paperwork to say it’s deactivated.

Interestingly, we flew a used 110mm artillery shell casing in our luggage once and had to get the base munitions people to provide paperwork to say it was inert (even though a visual inspection would do that by even a lamens person)

The latest on the radio is that it’s suspected to be a hoax device.

  8. >A “suspected prohibited item” was found inside luggage and the explosive experts were sent to the terminal “as a precaution”, according to Sussex Police.

Regardless of what this is someone is having a *very* bad time about now.
