The same way Mongolia “had to” arrest Vladimir Putin when he visited them last year?

Countries are sovereign, they don’t have to do anything unless some other country is willing to go to war to force them to. Those countries agreed to hand over people wanted for War Crimes but there is no mechanism to force them to carry through.

There is ONE country in aaaaaaall of the West that hasn’t signed it. It doesn’t matter what effect it has; it’s a fucking disgrace that America still is on the side of genocidal fuck head.

In Italy we have a Minister that just declared “If he comes to Italy, we will be happy to welcome him”, and i have some considerations:

1- his job should be about infrastructures and transports, yet he talks about anything except that (while almost every train is in delay)

2- he talks like everyone in this country agreed with him, even when his own party doesn’t agree with him

3- he thinks that his opinion is more powerful than an international arrest warrant

4- he is the same person who is under process for keeping 147 immigrants stuck in a ship for days claiming he was defending our borders, and his party was accused of stealing 49 million € from public money

  5. And, of course, those same countries are happy to give Hamas a free pass for the October 7 murders.

Hahaha, Netanyahu could do a speech in the middle of Barcelona, and the police wouldn’t arrest him.

Canadian here: I’m delighted that my country believes in holding war criminals accountable. I’m extremely delighted that Netanyahu won’t be able to visit here

I would love my country to arrest him. Sadly we wouldn’t do that.

This is a gross oversimplification. None of these states have a legal obligation to arrest Putin, Netanyahu or any other head of state or person having diplomatic immunity.

“The relevant provision with regard to the arrest of officials of a non-party state is Article 98(1) of the [Statute](https://www.icc-cpi.int/sites/default/files/RS-Eng.pdf) of ICC which stipulates that the Court may not proceed with a request for surrender or assistance which would require the requested State to act inconsistently with its obligations under international law with respect to the immunity of a person of a third state, unless the Court can first obtain the cooperation of that third State for the waiver of the immunity.”

And then it gets even more complicated…

All good then, guess Netanyahu can take trip to Libya and other arab countries for vacation

The warrant is bogus. It was issued by one Muslim justice from the UK who, btw, is facing a sex charge investigation.

  12. To all who dream about his arrest in their country – do you even know how diplomatic visits work?
Also, he’s probably traveling with 30 – 40 well-armed bodyguards plus the embassy protection staff.
I won’t be surprised if some US QRF is also ready somewhere in the sea.

  13. midianightx on

Be ready for Netanyahu travelling even more. That Court is a piece of s****.

  14. Erdogan should be arrested for war crimes too, why is he immune to that? Because he’s an Islamist or because of NATO membership?

  15. xnoinfinity on

It’s kinda funny how all western countries would arrest him but not the US lol

I love how some people totally agree with the international rules based order when it’s against their enemies but criticise it and don’t agree with it when it’s against them or their allies.

Can we please have a consistent stance on international rules based order or are we gona pick and choose depending on our geopolitical alliances?

If they are so confident he is innocent then why not have him go prove his case in the Hague, that’s their to fear?

Canada here. I think it’s a good thing. I’ll also say o think more Hamas leaders and people in the government of Palestine, other supporting Arab nations and militant groups should be on this list.

  18. Wait, wasn’t the Rome Statue about the COVID vaccine back in the day? /s

  19. Hungary should be gray, Netanyahu shouldn’t be arrested if he come to Hungary.

It’s going to be expensive for the ICC to criminally charge a US ally exercising its right of self defense from a war of aggression, as this action will likely lead to US sanctions against them. It’s against our interest for our allies to be at legal risk as a result of being assaulted by their despotic neighbors.

There are some bills in congress that seem pretty likely to succeed in 2024-2025.

  21. DonJuanDeMichael1970 on

I like it. The man is a criminal. He should face consequences for his behaviour.

  22. Rich_Parsley_8950 on

all of these countries would arrest someone with an ICC warrant, provided it’s not someone with diplomatic immunity, IE a serving head of state or a dispatched diplomat.

basically, these are the countries he can’t visit once/if he is ever out of office

    same with putin

the reason people with DI with an ICC warrant usually don’t visit these countries in an offical capacity is not put strain on relations between their country, the host country and the signatories

but when neither the host nor the visitor GAF stuff ends like when putin visited mongolia

  23. SouthListening on

He should be arrested, but that’s hypocrisy coming from me, a South African. We had the chance to arrest Al-Bashir in 2017 when he came here and we didn’t.

  24. Canada? UK? Though they are far left..did not think they will sign to this silly statue. Japan, South Korea but not China, Pakistan and Iran? . Bangladesh?

They moved the Capital of Israel to Jerusalem. Now they just have to move the Capital of the United State to Jerusalem and we should be good.
