ok…. how are so many people with their phones out, looking at the building that is about to get hit? Is this somehow due to Israel giving heads up sometimes before they strike?

I think it’s necessary to point out, whether or not one is pro-israel, that the dynamic in Lebanon is quite different from Gaza, allowing for such footage. Gaza is definitely more homogenous politically. This results in more extensive bombing (indiscriminate if youre anti-israel). The Israelis understand the political landscape in Lebanon, and the vast majority of political parties are in one way or another against the war. The result of this is that the bombing in Beirut are very targeted, and tend to be predictable, especially given the warnings provided by the idf. The situation is more Gaza-esque in southern Lebanon due to the fact that it is predominantly shiite, who are the sect Hezbollah is based in. Israel knows that targetting non-shiite areas extensively will moreso galvanize Lebanese support for Hezbollah, and that this will ease pressure on them during negotiations.

Do buildings like this get targeted because Hezbollah members live there? What’s like the “bar” of Hezbollah involvement that makes a building a target?

Dang look at all that falling concrete. It’s definitely dangerous to be that close.
