I don’t quite understand this lol
Fascinating. The diversity is really amazing. Looks like some have resemblance with Chinese, while Tamil looks like three dicks flanked by two inverted k.
So Tirhuta is originally a maithili script
We used to use the tigalari script with a language called Tulu, spoken in coastal Karnataka on India’s West coast.
This region has been part of Kannada language speaking empires from inland for more than a thousand years.
While the language Tulu is still actively used, over the years people started using Kannada script to write the language. This led to the eventual death of the Tigalari script.
Post this in instagram to get some racist comments about sanitation or hygiene while completely missing the point of the map. It’s as if they went to the comment section just to shit on Indians and not to have a discussion about the post
My grandfather could write in modi script. It’s nearly too hard for us to understand.
The variety is mind blowing.
Imposing the simple Tamil script on Grantha Tamil was a huge downgrade. Grantha was far more comprehensive and accurate with the Indian sounds. The modern simplified Tamil can’t differentiate between P and B or T and D. It even lacks important sounds like H and J which some scholars have recently incorporated from Granth but the “traditionalists” continue to use A for H and S for J.
never knew multani was that close with our modern gurmukhi script. schools lied us by saying gurmukhi is developed from brahmi/lande scripts. but looking at the fonts, multani seems much closer. guess india / pakistan bullshit hit hard on our region (punjab)
My marwari friend’s father still uses Mahajani
