  1. I respect Israel’s right to strike inside other countries, I equally respect the right of those countries to strike within Israel. Perhaps this building contains enemies of Israel, and of course if the Lebanese were to attack targets within Israel or if somebody were to fire a large number of rockets at Israel it would also be in an attempt to destroy their enemies within Israel and equally legitimate.

Edit: how did so many Israelis think I was siding with them? I was literally saying you all can blow each other to hell I don’t care and consider it all good sport

one thing I’ve wondered given the nuanced nature of what’s going on in Lebanon (Israel vs Hezbollah rather than Israel vs Lebanon). would Lebanon be justified (from a legal perspective) in attacking valid military targets in Israel in response to these strikes?

I don’t think it would ever happen because Lebanon likely wants this shit to end as badly as Israel does.

but given that despite measures to reduce civilian deaths in these strikes, there are still civilian casualties even if as minimal as possible. would that then enable Lebanon to strike back in some sort of self defense?

Israel is pounding Lenabnon right now to push for some sort of IOF free operating rule inside a region of south Lebanon. A security zone. They obviously are going to make that zone whether there is a ceasefire or not. No sovereign country would agree to it, though.
