Oh no! first the Pacific Northwest USA, and now New Zealand.
Protect your babies, ya’ll! No exposure to others until they get their 6 month vaccinations.

Aussie here, there’s a whooping cough epidemic here in Sydney and unfortunately I’ve caught it. Even though I’m vaccinated this is probably the most sick I’ve been in years, concerning. Wonder why its spreading so much.

  3. My daughter’s university sent out an email about the small outbreak they are having, and mentioned that: **This fall, there has been a fivefold increase in the number of pertussis cases in the US compared with this time in 2023**.

  4. Was just watching a live stream of a New Zealand company and the founder was coughing it up

My 4 year old has it now :/ poor little dude hates the anabiotics flavor.

  6. If you get anything beyond a minor scratch in the US, they should be able to look up your records and have you take a tetanus booster, including whooping cough, if you are out of date? At least that was done for me.

I also paid out-of-pocket for a booster at a local chain drugstore during a previous outbreak, because I have someone at home to protect.

  7. Thank the dumb fuck antivaxxers for bringing this and other viruses back.

  8. Maybe this is why I’ve been coughing non-stop for six weeks… Some days it almost seems like it goes away.

  9. I’ve noticed here in Brazil, some colleagues at 40 to 50 years of age, were having a tough coughing crisis a few months ago, probably was the whooping cough (called coqueluche here) since they probably didn’t had proper vaccination of it back then…

I worked every day with these people constantly coughing, but besides like 2 days of feeling a little sick, I was fine, realizing now that probably the vaccines from it helped me there…

Stop being morons and vaccinate your kids god damn it… This is so dangerous for babies.

  11. I caught it as an adult some years back and it lasted forever. It was awful, it would seriously choke you as well.

  16. Yay! We are living in interesting times 😀

Ffs pls stop this curse already

  17. Folks you don’t want to get this one trust me. While it won’t kill you, you will wish you were dead if you get it. This is no cold like cough. The cough spasms are so violent you puke in the middle of it, break ribs even. The cough spasms last so long you can’t get air in to breath, hence the “whoop”. That is the sound you make gasping for air after a spasm of coughing. The whooping cough can last up to 3 months and is very, very infectious. The vaccine does not last for life and is recommended every ten years, but even then, not 100% effective. It runs from 71-85% effective. What people in the U.S. sometimes don’t know is the Tetanus shot, or Tdap is for three bacterial infections one of which is whooping cough.

As far as coughing goes the cold and COVID have nothing on this. Whooping cough is savage.
