      Ukraine said Russia launched an intercontinental ballistic missile during an attack on the country following Kyiv’s strikes with western-made weapons inside Russian territory.

      It appears to be the first reported use of the missile, designed to hit targets thousands kilometers away, since the beginning of the war.

      Russian officials had yet to comment on the alleged missile launch, which came as part of a larger barrage Thursday morning targeting the central Ukrainian city of Dnipro.

      Probably stupid question, but…I read that these kinds of missiles are used to attack with nuclear warheads. How do we know if this specific missile has one attached or not?

      For some reason this feels like a huge escalation. Firing ICBMs with conventional warheads is playing with nuclear fire. Threatening nukes is one thing. Firing ICBMs that could accidentally trigger a nuclear response is crossing a line.

      Did you people forget Russia was considered the second strongest army in the world a couple of years back? Before we know thanks to Ukraine that 90% of Russia’s capabilities were blantant lies?

      Yes, they managed to save face because one rust ridden rocket wasn’t a dud.

      I’m waiting for the deafening chorus of voices condemning Russia for such a reckless act and further escalating the war of conquest that they started.

      Of course, when the West provides Ukraine with the weapons it needs to defend itself, so many voices scream themselves hoarse excoriating them for escalating the war and unnecessarily drawing it out. They love to tell us that lives could be saved by ending the war (i.e. capitulation), so helping Russia win is somehow the moral thing to do.

      Not an ICBM, but a new type of weapon that is very similar. This is from US intelligence and the president of Ukraine.

      It’s a misunderstanding. The I in their ICBM is actually a lowercase L and the acronym actually stands for *low Cost* Ballistic Missle. Expect to see a bunch more because they bought in bulk from Temu for the free shipping.
