      My gut feeling is Gaetz gets confirmed. Once we get closer to the vote, we’ll start to learn the specific names of the GOP senators considering voting against him and Trump will start attacking them personally. Elon will be talking about funding their opponent in the next primary. MAGA may start sending death threats. It’s easy to push back when you’re not being called out individually.

      Just leak it. We all know if the tables were turned the Republicans would release the report. Legally or not. Hell, they were loud about made up accusations and wasted millions of tax payer dollars investigating their made up claims.

      Why do the Dems insist on playing by the rules and losing because of it? If we learned anything over the past 8 years is that there is little to no consequences for breaking rules or traditions.

      In all the din, no one is asking why Trump is insisting on Gaetz. Yes, he is full on MAGA but that’s not the main reason. Trump wants someone who can break laws and sidestep the Constitution. Gaetz is that person. At the end of his term, Trump simply pardons him. The perfect arrangement.

      They’re the same people okay with posting a president’s sons naked photo in a live congressional hearing, sharing his daughters diary while both are private citizens of the United States. But a sitting government official accused of trafficking and fucking a kid they cover up for. And half the country is okay with this.

      This whole situation is just a microcosm of everything wrong with America lately.

      The Democrats are in power: they nominate a Republican to the Supreme Court, to try and be bipartisan. The nominee is rejected and they’re not allowed to appoint anyone. So then they make that Republican Attorney General as a consolation prize, to try and be bipartisan, and **shockingly** he’s not terribly interested in investigating any serious crimes committed by Republicans.

      Then Republicans get into power. Do they nominate Democrats to the Supreme Court to try to be bipartisan? Hah. Do they nominate a Democrat for Attorney General to try to be bipartisan? Hah. Do they even just nominate a regular Republican as Attorney General? No, they nominate an extremist pedophile who just a few months ago they were all theatrically outraged at, but will now fall into line and vote to confirm.

      As usual the Democrats keep running to the right hoping Lucy will let Charlie Brown kick the football this time, and meanwhile the Republicans have no more room to move further to the right so they’ve just gone batshit insane. At some point the Democrats will nominate their own far right senile fascist reality tv huckster for president because their only idea seems to be “let’s do a slightly less extreme version of what they’re doing and hope America likes it.”
