That’s an almost unbelievable number; crazy it’s increasing at that rate

  2. I wish media would stop lumping them together. The only reason they do is our naming of medical disorders comes from Latin. The two diseases are nothing alike, and in most cases, type 2 is self-caused, while type 1 is never. This causes a bias in the populace against type 1 diabetics. It’s not fair.

  3. It’s a very modern disease (well type 2 anyway) and it’s going to lead to a significant burden on healthcare resources in a few years. I’m helping to care for someone with end stage renal disease caused by complications of type 2 diabetes. It’s a HUGE amount of work just dealing with the PD stuff, then add all the other complications and it’s a full time job. Don’t even get me started on the costs. Now multiply that by millions.
