Der Verkehr auf Bluesky, einem X-Konkurrenten, ist seit der Wahl um 500 % gestiegen. Wie wird es mit dem Anstieg umgehen?

no one will tell you that ~~it’s~~ the exodus is because twitter won’t let people talk about r/somethingiswrong2024

I wonder who is going to cover operations costs? Are they gonna be twitter 2 in that they stay ahead with investors until some Elon-esque person tries to make it profitable?

  3. I use BlueSky and X and in my opinion they are somewhat similar: left-leaning and right-leaning social media platforms, so now there is balance and a choice for liberals and conservatives.

It’s handling it better than any scummy maga run social media.

Good for bluesky. It already shows alarming signs of being an overmoderated mess.

I predict that the blue hairs will eat their own in time. Disagreement is not allowed.

It is neat to see non twitter links on sports subs.

By purchasing even more paid actors to write and post these news everywhere

I took a look at it. Sorry, but it’s a little boring.

This is honestly a very difficult thing in web development. I have the skills to make my own Twitter or Facebook or whatever. Most moderate devs could. What I cannot do is build a site at scale so it can handle thousands of interactions every second. This is where code quality and architecture really shine, as well as dev OPs.

The answer could be as simple as just spinning up more servers and containers and playing the load balancing game… but I’ve been to meetups where they talk about how they optimized this one common operation and went from spending thousands of dollars a month to Amazon on that one web app to spending hundreds.

I haven’t seen any issues yet. I don’t expect it to be perfect, and no one else should either. It’s quasi-federated for lack of a better term, and there’s so much you can do if you want.

The user experience on xitter now is like the scene in clockwork orange where they force alex’s eyes open and make him watch horrific scenes. So blue sky has a lot of leeway in being better than the competition.

Since 1/3 user interactions are with a bot, I humbly raise the possibility that astroturfing mentioned in these comments, is more likely to come from bots supportive of X, compared to bluesky bots – X has the larger incentive for doing what it can to prevent the dilution of their user base.

Considering they built twitter i think they are prepared to handle high traffic load, at least they know how to scale.

  12. Luckily, years of experience, modernization of scaling computing stacks, modern frameworks, and lessons learned from Whale Fail all contribute to knowing how to architect and react correctly.

The user base is also not large enough to deal with that level of complexity, so hopefully, they’re intelligently planning based on current growth projections.

Yes please, ohhh female ceo thumbnail nice touch.

The “Surge” is only 18million total users. Really not a heavy lift server wise and easy to spin up more as im assuming this platform is just contracting through a cloud services partner.

I think this article is less of a real concern about servers and more of a sudo advertisement for the platform. “Lots of people are coming here, you should come too”

  15. I am having an exciting time on BluSky. It’s like a breath of fresh air.

Why is this trash keep getting posted over and over again? I don’t care about X or Bluegarbage. I want interesting technology topics.

At least in my bubble, tons of people are now positing their BSky @’s. I ever used Xitter much, and I don’t spend a lot of time yet on BSky, but everything is going smoothly.

How will it handle Elon in a governmental position is the bigger question.

  19. Bluesky is financed by right wing organisations to get progressives to self isolate in an echo chamber. Independents will stay on twitter and get influenced by right wing propaganda and decide elections.

Progressives are falling for it hard. They are censoring their own voices from the general population.

Pretty well from the looks of it.

There have been a few stutters but considering getting a million users a day for over a week hasn’t crippled them is impressive. Those IT admins deserve a pay rise.

  21. I don’t get apps with zero notifications setting. It’s a change of fresh air they said..

  22. I want to join blue sky just to spite musk.

    Should I ?
50 downvotes and I do it.
