      She was 75 and he’d have been 29. Very strange, wonder what events led to the crime. Glad justice is served!

      Even if he’s guilty, he has essentially gotten away with it. He’s 92, practically on Death’s door.

      Obviously we all would wish for him to be caught earlier but at least his last days will be in shame.

      It’s sounding to me like a cold case review which led to a hit on forensics, likely including DNA.

      That means this man has been known to the police relatively recently and his DNA is in the system, or there’s been a familial link with one of his younger relatives who themselves has been picked up for something. The latter has solved cold cases in the past – there was an unsolved murder where the killer was identified years later as a result of his son being done for drink driving.
