      Announcing her resignation, Morocco-born Nora Achahbar of centrist New Social Contract party said that “the polarising manners have had such an impact on me that I could, or would, no longer fulfil my role as state secretary.”

      I’d just be happy if violent people got arrested and nobody was beaten for his/her skin color or nationality. I really don’t understand why this is so difficult nowadays.

      It feels like everyone, both this woman, and most commenters here, are just thinking of how to use to advance their favorite group.

      Granted, some Israeli fans chanted stuff they shouldn’t have, but running Israelis over with a car and looking for Israelis on the streets of Amsterdam is pretty much a pogrom. How these events were later used by politicians in the NL is not relevant at all here

      It’s not a pogrom unless it comes from the Pogrom region of Russia. Otherwise it’s just sparkling antisemitism.

      The change of tone makes a lot of sense as more facts come out.

      The Israeli hooligans behaved despicably in the run up to the attacks though. They destroyed multiple taxis, took down a flag and sang songs like “death to Arabs” and “there are no schools in Gaza because there are no children left”.

      Of course this does not justify violence, but it’s not some random unprovoked attack.

      Israeli Hools and Israeli government can be called out without weaseling around calling the organized jewhunt as it is. Israeli government making populist remarks also does jot change the events whatsoever

      I would be happy with them getting the result of this weakness handed to them at the voting booth, if only people.would not vote for neofascists instead

      The left will yet again refrain from taking a powerful stand in a discourse and let the far-right populists have a field day with the issue.

      Edit: I did not claim that Israel is doing nothing wrong (it doesn’t even matter for my point, nothing happening in either Israel or Netherlands excuses either the Hools nor the jewhunt) and I refer to Leftists because the major is member of GroenLinks, so obviously left-wing…so don’t try to derail with bs accusations please

      I also explicitly defend Amsterdam and NL govt right to criticize both sides. My.point is that I found the harsh initial remarks appropriate. Not that one side is good, or one side is bad, or one side is right, or one side is wrong. If you can’t handle anything besides cheerleading for your camp, its not my fault.

      Is there another word than “Pogrom” for “a city wide preplanned organized Jew hunt” ?

      Perhaps she now thinks “Kristallnacht” would be more appropriate and less insensitive towards the Maroccan community?

      Her entire tone is “well the Jews brought it upon themselves”. 

      Yes, in her case, “Kristallnacht” would probably be a better choice.

      Sorry but as a Brazilian, usually when Argentinians are around their hooligans burn out Brazilian flags and said lots of racist things. We didn’t answer with violence in Brazil back in 2014:

      My support for Israel started to wane after their automated drones shooting at kids or this soldier peeing at the body of a polish member of humanitarian help. And it fully ended after this one private party of my friend where among others there were four people from Israel. It was all fun and jokes until the politics talk started, and suddenly all of them were saying these things a Nazi-Soldier would say in 1939. I assure you – We Poles love dark, political-incorrect humor – Unfortunately this was something else.

      After this experience I checked the list of [Israel’s War Crimes](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_crimes_in_the_Israel%E2%80%93Hamas_war) and it turns out to be pretty long. Overall in this conflict there are 489 references and counting.

      What I find amazing is that Israelis assaulted Dutch citizens, caused property damage and engaged in hate speech. After breaking all these laws not only did they go scot free, they were portrayed as victims by European politicians and press! The privileges Israelis enjoy are incredible.
