Sounds about right. The headline is begging for people to get annoyed though, as most people on any health list are also in pain.

Edit: wow this keeps going back and forth between being upvoted and downvoted! Whether you agree with the headline or not, all I’m stating is the wording is very likely to lead to disagreements.

It’s so bad in areas like Menopause and Endometriosis.

We have so many patients coming in that we’re still trying to find patients appointments when they’ve been waiting 15 months for a follow-up.

Every clinic is completely booked out and we don’t have enough admin staff to process this many patients coming through. And the rest of us are so under pressure that we have multiple staff off with stress at once.

  3. I’m in an urgent referral wait list that’s a minimum of 19 weeks. I’m just starting week 18.

I was referred in May, after months of pain and GP appointments. My appointment has been rescheduled by the NHS 3 times now, from December to early Jan and now late Jan. I am in pain nearly every day. By the time I even get an initial appointment it’ll be more than a year since I started asking the GP for help.

I live in the Czech Republic and I regularly run into British women in my doctors waiting room because it’s easier and probably cheaper for them to just fly here for whatever they need than to do it back in the UK.

By the time I received my first referral to the hospital for endo, I was 12 months post surgery, having arranged it privately

I had a friend with fibroids, by the time her treatment came around, she ended up having to have a full hysterectomy because it had grown so big

To add to this I’ve got a copper coil that makes me bleed like a stuck pig and cramps all through the month. I’d like it out and a break from all the hormones but we’ve been told the waiting list for vasectomy is currently 5 YEARS.

  8. I saw the report earlier and one thing they didn’t mention was all the women who aren’t even on the waiting list. There are so many undiagnosed due to doctors not knowing the signs or who are getting misdiagnosed. Or women like myself, who have it but aren’t on the waiting list because their pain is manageable (I’m one of the lucky ones). A conservative estimate would be double what they think it is.
