Ich möchte einem Freund mein Auto während meiner Abwesenheit oder zu Weihnachten leihen. Bedeutet die hervorgehobene Aussage, dass jeder, der das Fahrzeug fährt, versichert ist?

This might be only the „Haftpflicht part“ of your insurance. Like damage to your own car could be in other areas of the contract. Also, it could be that there are exclusions or restrictions in this contract. But yes. I would also expect that „Fahrer des Fahrzeuges“ is anyone driving the car.

Only the liability insurance, i.e. damage done to third parties. So if your friend totals your car, you ain’t getting jack.

  3. There are two different things to keep in mind:

    1. Insurance will pay when your friend is driving and causing a damage to third parties.
    2. There might be a contractual penalty if your friend is not a registered driver in that contract. Usually all contracts contain information about the drivers who are allowed to drive the car. The contractual penalty is usually the insurance premium of one year.

Notice that the list starts of with first listing “Halter” and the “Eigentümer” (owner) of the car as two potentially different individuals (I guess the “Halter” differs from the owner in being the one that is maintaining it and controls who is driving it.). So it might be that by the same logic the “Fahrer” might be a designated person that is being the one that habitually drives it, which often correlates with the owner as well. That could mean that there is some kind of listing of persons that are habitually driving it. I would check my other documents for this list. The elaboration concerning the “Beifahrer” seems to go into a similar direction. That said, given that you need to have a KfZ-Haftpflicht and by that logic, any lending would either be illegal (which I highly doubt) or create an inconsistency in the reasoning as to why this insurance is manditory. Anyway in case of a damage either you are liable (and you are clearly insured in that case) or your friend is liable (which in the worst case means he is driving on his own risk) for any damage caused to others.

As others have said the Haftpflicht is different from a Kaskoversicherung which would be liable for damages to your own car and not only the damage to others. Here I am pretty certain that such an insurance comes with quite a bit more restrictions on who must be on the stearing wheel to be insurced.
