      Many will rain down hate on LT, but I genuinely appreciate the fact that she tried to do *something* to fix the endless economic malaise of the UK.

      It seems that everyone is willing to moan endlessly about stagnant wages and stagnant growth, but when anyone proposes to do something that isn’t Rishi or Starmer esque decline management, those same people are endlessly incensed.

      Further to this, I think it is deeply troubling that the UK economy is so incredibly fragile that an objectively normal policy (a personal income and corporate tax cut) is somehow enough to spook ‘the markets’, send private pensions to the brink of insolvency, and nearly cause some form of economic meltdown.

      This is indicative of two things to me
      – ‘the markets’ now control fiscal policy in this country, not elected politicians.
      – the UK economy is so fragile, so globalised, and so tertiary that it really is just a matter of time before an internal or external factor causes a economic meltdown of 2008 proportions or worse.

      That people got so caught up in political mudslinging that they somehow managed to ignore or be blind to all of the damning implications here is just incredible. Even now the OP here just can’t help themselves despite us being 2 years removed from her premiership.
