This is an interesting development, India has advanced quite quickly in space technology… Between China and India, the moon seems to be getting a lot of attention.

I love how a country that supports the majority of its population with transfers focuses on aircraft carriers, nuclear weapons and space. The current administration has not even tried to rein in the number of births in their least developed regions in the north, while the south, which (totally coincidentally of course) is not Hindu and does not vote BJP, has had to pay for most of this while losing political influence

I’m planning to build a personal-carbon-fiber deep sea submarine by 2040.

How about focusing on ensuring access to sanitary sewage systems and proper toilets for everyone in India before aiming for achievements like space exploration? Just a thought.

    5. Knowing them they will leave a door open on it… And ruin it all 🤣

They also want to land on the moon by 2040 so it’s definitely possible. 15 years is a long time and they seem to be serious about competing in space. It’s a realistic timeline and they seem to have the national desire as a result of competition with China. Let’s see it happen!

Wouldn’t this have some effect on the lunar cycle and the tides?

India should invest in being able to breathe breathable air in their cities.

No country has faced as much misinformation laced racism on social media as India. I don’t know what have we done to this world to deserve so much hatred. Every fucking thread or post about India is filled with racism which leaves no room for proper discussions.

    10. Half their people are starving, yet they want to throw money at a space station…

When did all these people come from in r/space.
Anti-space motherfuckers who think development of a country is just one dimensional and as if space research doesn’t help.

How about focusing on domestic infrastructure first. Just a thought.

    13. Great news. The more nations competing in a new space race is exciting, will push progress across the board. It’s crazy we haven’t been back to the moon in so many years.
