  1. > Hader’s daughter didn’t have particularly kind words for It Chapter 2. “So my kid did go, ‘I saw you in It.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, what do you think?'” he remembered. “She was like, ‘First movie was better.’ I was like, ‘Okay.'”

    > Hader said that his kids’ criticism of his work doesn’t particularly bother him. “I like it that they don’t — I’m their dad, that’s the best,” he said. “They don’t really give a s— about it.”

  2. That’s because they took Fukunaga’s script for the first one and cannibalized it into a good movie. They didn’t have a good script for the base for the second, they just had Muscietti who showed them how much he needed that handicap.

Compared to the kids in part 1, the chemistry amongst the adult cast just wasn’t there. Maybe that was intentional to reflect the distance that had grown between them, but it just felt like a cast that wasn’t very close.

IIRC this is a quote lifted from his recent interview with Ted Danson. Expect another 13 articles from their 70 min podcast.

Part 2 had it’s moments for sure, but man there was some questionable stuff in there.

It’s only as bad as it is because, for some bizarre reason, they decided to make it a comedy. If they’d leaned in to the horror in the same way the first movie did, it could have been great.

The first one is way better but hey that’s basically the case with every single sequel

I love both parts of IT but in both the 1990 version and the modern version the kids are amazing and overshadow the adults in the second half.

Second movie was terrible and relied on way more comedic moments that killed the tension so many times. The first one is great because of the young actors. The sequel didn’t even have enough Pennywise, but Bill Hader did stand out the most from the entire adult cast.

Neither of the movies are properly structured. Four to five hours isn’t enough time to tell this story in the right way. Would be more like 10 to 12.

Part I was fantastic….the kids WAAYYYY outperformed the adults in Part II.

Are all entertainment articles just pulled quotes from either Conan or Danson podcasts now? Because I feel like after every time I listen to either of them, these articles immediately pop up.

Gotta be a nice job just to listen to a podcast, then write some clickbaity article.

  13. Yeah the first one was better, but the second one wasn’t exactly a dud.
James Ransome was very good in it, and so was James McAvoy and Jessica Chastain.

Harder was probably the weakest part but overall it was fine.
