      Trump’s entire foreign policy is going to send U.S. influence on the geopolitical stage into a death spiral.

      It’s going to force the rest of the western world to unite against us and start investing in their own military forces more heavily to counter our pro-russian actions.

      As Americans are raised on non-political involvement of the military, think anything major results in a “general work stoppage/strike” beforehand if that were pushed = probably sending the country into a depression (deflationary spiral). Already overhearing some young women and couples planning to leave (probably temp on parental money) as is at the state u coffeehouse. Last thing a business-based party wants is many customers to stop spending and get ready to ~~flee overseas~~ take that long awaited foreign river cruise.. all the rivers.

      gonna have to wonder how he intends to use the military’s court matial system to purge officers though. the military doesn’t see operational failures like the pull out from afghanistan as something to sack people over, it was a very dangerous situation engineered by trump and the situation on the ground changed far more rapidly than anticipated. even if the sec def and the appointed heads of the branches go along with it, the military courts aren’t stuffed with trump loyalists.

      Fuck that – An actual partisan army is the death of democracy, and probably the US as we know it.

      There are several universal, milestone keys to power for an autocrat. Having lethal force on demand is one of them. We are a long ways off but its not a precedent you want to advance anywhere near, not even with the faintest of an idea, not even by just a toe if you care in any way about a just or civil society.

      I hope the half of the US that understands this stays very, very sober about this..

      I’ve got a feeling the US military is going to be too busy dealing with foreign actors to be turned on the American people. Russia, China, North Korea, Israel, Iran, Israel are all going to kick off the second he takes the presidency. He’s going to have a lot to ‘contain’ and I suspect the US will have to engage with multiple conflicts

      When the military becomes the enemy of the people, then the people will refuse to support the military. This may work short term as red states celebrate the murder of blue state citizens, but when blue states no longer support the military, then the military will collapse and become a shell of itself (and viewed as only a tool of red states dictators). Now viewed as an invading force, the military is now the enemy of the people, and revolution is at hand.

      Trump won’t live to see the destruction wrought upon America by his policies, he will die thinking he created the most revered legacy, but really, he will be poorly regarded in history.
