Mann wegen tätlichen Angriffs auf Haruna Kojima verhaftet und wegen Stalking-Verstoßes von der Stadtpolizei Tokio erneut festgenommen

A man from China, who was arrested last month for assaulting talent Haruna Kojima on a street in Shibuya, Tokyo, has been rearrested by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police for repeated stalking on another occasion. He is suspected of violating the Stalking Control Law.

The man, identified as Jiao Lei (42), a Chinese international student, was arrested on suspicion of stalking.

According to investigation sources, Jiao is suspected of repeatedly stalking Haruna Kojima (36) since around August this year, allegedly waiting for her at event venues.

On October 28, Jiao was arrested on the spot by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police for assaulting Kojima on a street in Shibuya. He allegedly hugged and pushed her to the ground after she left an event venue.

In August of this year, Kojima’s associates contacted the Harajuku Police Station with concerns about an overzealous fan. They reported that this individual would show up at events, causing a disturbance. This led the police to begin an investigation.

During questioning, Jiao admitted to the charges, stating, “I liked her,” and “People around her wouldn’t let me meet her.”
