Two words “Death Star” – In truth I have zero idea 😅
Space? Europe is behind both the US and China in almost everything right now.
Europe will always lag behind US and China in these things simply because it is not a single state and you have competing interests between different sovereign states.
Simply put you aren’t going to put in same resources into a group project as into your own.
launch papa into space
Invest more money on it? It’s as simple as that…
How about no?
It’s a great way to bankrupt ourselves. Let Elon play with his toy rockets, all Europe should do is supply and maintain its current missions, the funds are needed elsewhere
Not the fucking sobbing emojis.
It’s not the era of zero-sum competition anymore where “I cut my finger so you lose your whole leg”, but rather mutual cooperation and intertwined interests. Europe has the manpower and the money to put man on the moon within 10 years, but to what end? To show that Europe’s d*ck is bigger than the US? That’s not how the European leadership is thinking.
First step would be to recognize they are not our friends but global competitors, and should be treated as such. Then we might start moving in right direction.
We have more important things to catch up to than the fucking space race
Why don’t we just think as humanity instead of Europe and the USA.
The continent that built Airbus can absolutely can build a competitor to SpaceX.
Edit: I’m being downvoted for believing in Europe and that it can innovate on par with the U.S.? What in the actual f***?
Nothing, nobody gives a f about it, it is just a dick measuring contest. Esrange and the SSC in Sweden are doing just fine for us with actual scientific work.
I think it would be best if we forgot about space and just tried to fix the problems here..
We shouldn’t.
SpaceX’s owner currently owns [two thirds of all active satellites](https://www.independent.co.uk/tech/elon-musk-satellites-starlink-spacex-b2606262.html), so what’s the plan ? Multiply the number of satellites in orbit by two ? At some point, fighting for world domination becomes unproductive…
Nothing focus on making your own cities livable first, reduce criminal activity in major centers, increase infastructure funding especially public transportation and healthcare, increase minimum wage and lower living costs especially housing all of these should come before funding some space program.
SpaceX is an outlier, really. Big traditional aerospace companies in the US (hello Boeing!) couldn’t do that either. But it’s true that SpaceX *probably* couldn’t have gotten to this point had it started in Europe.
The US has set a deadline for sending a man to the moon. SpaceX was also supposed to provide a suitable rocket for this. To this day, it has not done it so and we do not know if it will, and the plans have been revised.
Furthermore, it is not known for what purpose the US wants to send a man to the moon again, because it is probably possible to do everything that needs to be done on it using robots, which would be cheaper and safer, because there would be no need to fear for human life.
So the US has made itself a race with itself, or maybe with China, for a goal that is not really known what it is needed for. On top of that, they will spend a lot of money on it.
For now, SpaceX is flying empty rockets, or ones sponsored by the Pentagon with cargo for Starlink. If there was no flight to the moon, there was no flight, and we can also forget about the announced Mars, which was supposed to happen in 2024 if I recall properly.
In addition, this whole SpaceX is duplicating the work of NASA, which already had good prototypes of multi-use ships and rockets, but did not build them apart from the Space Shuttle and a few experimental object, because the calculations showed that these things were economically unjustified.
Basically everything SpaceX does has already been done, invented and tested. Now they are reinventing the wheel, perhaps with a better computer and a few improvements. However, the rockets work the same way they did in the 60s and 70s today and nothing has fundamentally changed. (Although I think the Japanese are working on an interesting rocket propulsion using a shock wave of burning fuel, but I won’t write more about it because I don’t remember exactly and I’m not an expert on the subject).
So we have a race against ourselves, self-satisfaction and, in fact, it is not known whether economically viable investments. In addition, entries on X portals, which is still accused of propaganda, etc.
I will wait for ESA and NASA and see what these organizations can deliver without smashing rockets into the ground…
Enable a civilian space industry.
#🍆
Ehhh do we need to?
In my opinion, no radical change!
We don’t need every region of the world participating in the space race. There are other branches of science that deserve our focus.
The European Space Agency (ESA) has some good objectives and we don’t need to invest heavily in rockets. We can rent them. We are 70 years behind the leading players. Instead, we should focus on other areas of space exploration where we can make a meaningful contribution.
Our investments should prioritize biotechnology, physics (e.g., CERN), and energy, both nuclear and renewable. All of them will be of great use on space exploration.
When it comes to AI and computer technology, we are also lagging. We should focus on creating strong regulations and fostering an open market. By leading in the regulation and development of open technology markets, we can carve out a niche for ourselves in the global tech.
Why does Europe have to beat the US at everything?
Europe should be less concerned about vertical borders than they should be about lateral ones.
Sabotage.
Why don’t you people focus more on the basic things first? Like getting sufficient cheap energy to actually stop the bleeding in your basic heavy industrie? lol.
Get rid of socialism.
Y’all go to space, Europe will stay on Earth.
Withdraw all regulations and remove taxes
Whats the point? Its literally throwing money away.
Germany and France are the ones running ESA but they dont really want to put huge amounts of money into it.
Without creating some sort of unique program where a unified space agency were given some sort of allowances to bypass the insane amount of bureaucracy here we will *never* catch up.
In around 6 weeks germany will invest in Böller 2 , produced in Polland …
Literally don’t waste your time. President SpaceX won’t work with Europe
step 1: give up making rockets
step 2: use space x
it would take decades for EU to catch up to the technology today.
rather leverage current technology even if not in-house and build something else upon that.
like a giant space elevator that can take me from my sofa to my fridge
Ignore it and continue to offer Universal Healthcare instead, lol .
