This will have the same effect as the signs „Please do not commit crimes between 10pm and 6am“

  2. That’s some moronic bs really. It always was already prohibited to carry around knifes aside a select few exceptions for short bladed and folding knives which never have been used in any “terror” stabbing. It’s been a kitchen knife the dude in Solingen used. And it was illegal to carry that in public. He just never was stopped and searched. And if the Police tries to stop and search everyone on the Christmas market that will be one jolly good fun time for everyone. Stupid symbolic law is doing nothing to solve a problem that’s nearly non-existent.

“There has already been one injury at this year’s Christmas markets in Germany, albeit not related to any security breaches.”

    What?

    Relevancy?

Good thing criminals always obey the laws.

    This is so ridiculous.

What are they gonna do when it’s the knife enthusiasts’ turn to start writing laws?

tackling the proper problems. maybe we can think about a truck ban around christmas every year. But reddit tells me that only the other parties do populism so this apparently isnt entirely useless and stupid populism

Damn why didn’t they think of that before. It’s clearly solved now. Crime will no longer happen because they made it illegal. Order has been restored.

  8. “Today i will stab some people…..wtf..my knife is forbidden….ok..no stabbing today”

  9. Someone ought to tell German agencies that “ITS FORBIDDEN” only works on law abiding German citizens, nobody else in the world cares

  10. Psst heyyy… people who like to stab other people don‘t (or won‘t) exactly care about that.

Oh no. I’ll have to leave my meat cleaver at home this year I guess.

  12. Ah nice, more security theater and going after ordinary folks with a 3-4cm long pocket/utility knife on their person… we’re so damn save now, thanks.

Too bad that bad guys don’t care about that, but even if they did and followed the rules… they could just bring a basic, far more deadly, screwdriver and probably be fine and get right past the enforcement… great.

Missing old safe Germany. Walking on the streets late at night without worrying about a religious terrorist. Good old days.

Yeah its best to not have knife bans all year round, just at Christmas markets. /s
