Yeah because they know the tide is finally shifting as it gets harder for them to hide all the damage caused by their greed. I will expect a full-throated non-reply from the Liberals, and an embrace to shore up the base by the Conservatives. And nice to see how fully cooked Cop29 was with the praise for our lord and saviour the petrochemical.

I’m just appalled, truly, by what has been done to our planet by the previous generations. We could stop all production and use of fossil fuels tomorrow, and still spend the next century addressing adaptation and reversal to anthropogenic climate change. Hooray for organizing though, even if every party presently an option will just delay what seems to be the inevitable.

They see their chance. Trump and other right wing lunatics are happy to keep pumping oil and destroying the planet, so this is the exact time for them to swoop in, spread bribes around, and try and influence the next couple of decades while the earth is still mostly habitable. By the time it’s obvious the planet is screwed, the oil barons and their family and friends will be wealthy enough to be first in line for real estate somewhere on earth that will last another few decades; or a ticket to another planet for them or their children some day.
