  1. So far there been chaos over the details of the bill while at the same time they may want all this passed within the next 2 weeks. The Australian government seems to have no idea what they are doing and even if this is a secret plan to bring in internet IDs is being done in the most incompetent way possible.

If you live down under contact your Senators and Members here and tell them this will not work and should not vote for this and have a full debate without fast tracking.

I’m not sure I want government or social media to verify my children’s age online as I feel like this is a overreach of privacy. With all the data breaches last thing I want on some big tech companies servers is my child’s legal information.

a lot of money will be spent on researching it, and they will find its not practical

then it will lead to digital ID’s for everything., then no more anonymity.

If I were to do it here in the UK, I’d use your national insurance number which you are only given when you turn 16 linked to a password. That way even if a 12 yo tried to gain access with a random NI number without the password held on a government website there is no access.

There are probably loopholes in this along with bad parents who allow their children to use their codes but it may be a start.

As for the whole overreach argument, it’s a national identity number provided by the government already so nothing really they don’t already have.

I don’t understand why they can’t just do what they do with under 13s who are already banned from social media?

We could have a lot of fun and use AI/Algorithms to detect the terms, reading/writing style and infer the education level of the user from their posts then label them to immature to be on social media.

Imagine the shit show that would cause followed by the Utopia by comparison for those that remain.

I don’t really care what your age is, just how mature you are.

  7. Probably as good as it did when I was 12 looking at porn in late 90’s on the internet.

One thing I’ve learned from my teenagers is that they figure out how to circumvent any technology fairly quickly. Hacking is a life skill is this age.

Edu verification or parental verification with DL,either way I hope will cover most of the cases.

You just ask and they click yes or no truthfully like it’s always been done.

It’s a Trojan horse to push for digital ID so they can control what we’re allowed to see and punish critics.

The internet is no longer the wild west it’s been taken over by tech and media oligarchs, and governments have always hated people having a platform where they can freely criticize their leaders the only difference between authoritarian and liberal countries is whether or not they can say the quiet part out loud.

Any time a politician screams “THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!” it’s never actually about the children.
