      Of course Gaetz is going to be AG. You know Trump already gave him absolute assurance he was going to be acting AG, or Gaetz would have never quit his job in Congress. I mean Trump doesn’t even have to do anything weird, … all he has to do is say Gaetz is the acting AG, and that’s the end of it. He doesn’t need Congressional approval, he doesn’t need recess appointments, he can just say he’s “acting AG” and the end.

      That said, there’s absolutely no reason to think they won’t have the votes to confirm him.

      This is a bigger issue than it looks like. This is Trump testing the waters to see how far he can go and get away with it. If he isn’t stopped here, he’ll keep going until he finds the limit of his power.

      The Gaetz nomination is vital to the Trump Administration.

      Having a weak, compliant Attorney General like Gaetz proclaim that the law is whatever Donald says it is would protect the Supreme Court’s MAGA fascist majority from having to publicly bend and twist their interpretation as extensively and as often.

      Donald has access to the evidence against Gaetz and could use it against him if he wasn’t as helpful as possible. For fascists being compromised is not a problem at all, it’s a guarantee that they can use you.

      During a Trump administration penalties for crimes like pedophilia may actually become much harsher—they just won’t be applied to everyone equally.
