That was my prediction from the start. I think it was a pick to allow Gaetz to save face by resigning due to the appointment the day before his own Caucus roasted him with their report on his pedophilia and drug use. Let him resign and then in a week or three he will decline the nomination for some reason and his reputation is saved and he can rejoin the House next year where he was amazingly reelected by his crazy constituents in Florida.

  2. Didn’t he resign from Congress? If so he’s out of two jobs…🤭

  3. Silly-Relationship34 on

Trump was hoping Gaetz would bring some of his 13 year old girlfriends to Mar a Lardo?

  4. Trump’s incompetence seems to be the only hope we have in surviving these next few years

  5. He was only nominated to be a distraction so the Russians can get Tulsi in. It’s working.

  6. Well, that would be the smart thing to do, so I predict that Donald Trump will absolutely *not* take that smarter option.

There is always the Supreme Court. Between Kavanaugh and Thomas and their sexual harassment issues, Gates will fit right in.

glenn kirschner is indulging in wishful thinking, other normal presidents would cave to pressure over a nomination but Trump demands complete loyalty from his party and any who don’t go along with it will at the very least end up without a job if not tossed into gitmo.

If so then what. He runs and hides behind Desantis legs begging to get his old job back?

  10. We need the Epstein Tapes givin special attention by the DOJ and the corrupt media.

I don’t know, this might look like Trump was wrong. I expect full double down, no mistakes were made, gaetz becomes AG

It’s on purpose, dangle complete crazy and dangerous, then when you take that away, just dangerous doesn’t seem as bad.

Too bad. A pedophile perfectly represents this administration. What a shame.

Which would be hilarious since he already resigned his house seat.

And he quit his job. Nice start to a nightmare 4 years but I’ll take the W’s where I can.

  16. SquidsArePeople2 on

He’s gonna pull Gaetz and nominate Cannon instead. Bank on it.

No he won’t. I respect Glen Kirshner, but the guy has been absolutely wrong on every prediction. Glenn is stuck in a time before Trump. When justice was a thing. For criminals.

Then the universe delivered trump. And Trump delivered America. This is what his people are telling him to do. Thinking Trump could take over the world? On his own? Stop it. He not smart enough. This is an unholy alliance in charge now. A new deep state. A techno Christian deep state.

He’ll put Gaetz up. He’ll get hung up in Congress, and Trump will suspend the session and appoint “temporary” people.

Why else would Trump put somebody like Gaetz up? Or Gabbard? Or agent Fox McChristian? Or any other lunatics up for anything?

Am I the only o e that thinks the revolution is over? Can’t be. The world is about to change in enormous ways. The “right” has won. The evangelicals got what they want. The oligarchs got what they want. Trump is king. Out of jail. On the big grift again. It’s game over. First, they’ll come for the immigrants. Then the lgbtq+ folk. And wait until the incels find out about the Comstock act!

Remember, mini president musk said it’s gonna be a rough two years or so.

Wishful thinking. This sub, in the news, and a few others propped up a lot of false narratives. Not all of fake news but a lot of speculation or Hopium posted as news

  19. Kdiesiel311 on

No easy he was gonna get a pass anyways. The dudes face just screams peedoh. And he already resigned 😂🖕

  20. Someone suggested nominating someone as blatantly reprehensible as Gaetz was to distract from the nomination of known Russian asset Tulsi Gabbard to be the next director of national intelligence.

Can’t believe Americans voted for this clown show. We need to understand what is going on in our country that people just don’t understand the impact of their choices.

  22. mere_iguana on

Yes, I’m sure republicans will do the right thing and think of the country, and not just blindly follow whatever Trump tells them to.

In fact I’m so sure, I’m gonna hold my breath

    > And I have to believe that my former colleagues at the Department of Justice are looking at Donald Trump’s alleged nomination of Matt Gaetz and saying, ‘Look I can’t work for this guy, I can’t work for what I believe his policies and priorities to be.’ I find it hard to believe that the Republicans will just check their spine at the door and vote in favor of Matt Gaetz.”

Has he been paying attention? Spineless Republicans doing what Trump tells them to do has been the status quo for the last decade or so.

  24. It was a ruse not to free Gaetz from the ethics report but Johnson knows he can’t count on him. So did Trump. Now there’s one less house member that can remove Johnson.

  25. Of course!! It was a favor to Gaetz and his rich dad to further protect him from the kinky shit that was going to come out in the ethics committee findings. That’s the only way he could safely resign without having to explain himself. I think Desantis will appoint him to replace Marco Rubio. MMW.

  26. I half expected Trump to say he never nominated Matt in the first place.

  27. Facerip-2024 on

I say nope. Trump won’t admit he made a bad choice no matter the reason for making said choice. Y’all thinking like this is a normal traditional administration. Look at rapist “I like beer” Cavanaugh. Any other president and his appointment would have been dropped the minute accusations started coming out. But not rump. He backed him whole heartedly. Rapists stick together I guess. Rump won’t have his decisions questioned and will double down like he always does.
