  1. If I were as talented and had the public appreciation that Driver and Gaga have, as do many performers who are getting screwed by the studios they work with…. I would be so frustrated and have so much trust lost in the industry. They are both too talented to be put in these types of situations. You have actors being vulnerable left and right and the way they edit and deliver the cuts ends up a catastrophe. Big heads are losing the vision and the studios are not encouraging good storytelling or solid production anymore. And you see the pattern over and over again

Todd Phillips working overtime to hide the cost of his own bomb

This movie took 30 years to make and telegraphed its awfulness for decades… this shit show should have surprised no one.

  4. Truly one of the all time worst movies I’ve ever seen. Terrible, even worse, are the people framing it as some genius work

  5. Borderlands, megalopolis, and joker 2 are fighting to see who can lose their company the most money. All in the same year too.

  6. I feel like there’s an unhealthy narrative around this movie that Coppola is such an idiot for wasting his money and tarnishing his legacy. It seems like people are actively hoping it fails. I don’t understand that. Wouldn’t you rather see an artist make the movie they want to make, rather than hoarding that wealth instead? He made something he believed in, he employed a ton of people to get it done. Even if you don’t like the movie, wouldn’t you still rather have one more Coppola movie than know that his great grandchildren will be multi-millionaires? And it’s not like he would have retired on some high note otherwise. He hasn’t made a movie the general public has been even slightly aware of since The Rainmaker in 1997.

I’m glad he took a big swing. I just wish it had been a better movie.

  7. The worst movies aren’t pieces of idiosyncratic art you just fail to connect with. The worst movies are soulless corporate schlock.

I have to watch this now just for the inevitable how did this get made episode

There’s still no way this movie could be that bad. I don’t believe any of you

  10. Francis Ford should have cast Nic Cage in this one to a salvage it. I wouldn’t watch a bad movie on its own, but I’d watch one with Nic Cage in it

i don’t get why tf everyone seems to clown on the movie and hope it fails. it’s an old man’s dream project paid for with his own money. if you don’t like it great, move on. but quit celebrating its failure?? this sentiment is so trash

  12. why do directors keep thinking Adam Driver is a draw?.. and he for casted as the lead in Heat 2 i heard, another bomb incoming

Can we start down voting clickbait titles that are just trying to get you to another website?

Didn’t even know there was a movie out called megalopolis. Marketing gone horribly wrong

  15. Can’t remember when I last went to the cinema. Definitely pre-covid. I’m not pressured to watch something purely to avoid spoilers, and am happy to wait for it to be released on whatever format I have to watch at home.

Oddly – bad films tend to have a bit of following once a decent amount of time has passed, so YouTube videos tend to make me excited for it, meaning far less disappointment. I also find if a film is terrible I can happily just turn it off and not feel short changed.

Something I don’t understand, why is the box office takings seem as the best all end all for a film and whether it is seen as a success? So many “cult” films will have now made a decent wedge after failing at box office, and so many box office successes are now massive flops

Megalopolis wasn’t awful. It actually was decent if you just let it ride and tried to venture into its world, but there was no audience for it. Like genuinely who was this movie for?

This is coming from someone who actually enjoyed the movie too lol

I could talk about this movie for hours. Everything about it is so horribly crafted. The way you can dissect a masterpiece and examine all its good parts, the same can be done for this movie but the inverse. Hands down the worst film I’ve ever seen.

I would be one to defend Francis, but a few years ago he was one of the directors that shit on movies that he didn’t enjoy because they weren’t high art like him and his friends made. “I don’t know that anyone gets anything out of seeing the same movie over and over again. Martin was kind when he said it’s not cinema. He didn’t say it’s despicable, which I just say it is.”, said Francis when Scorsese voiced his dislike on the mcu and modern franchise movies.

he talked all that shit and then this happens to him and I don’t feel any remorse for his millions lost. a couple of months ago the mcu, aliens, inside out 2 all over performed, theres an audience eager to see these movies, almost no one wanted to see Francis’s movie.

Honestly I’m thinking about seeing it a second time and dragging my wife along too

  21. I walked into the movie theater with a clear mind and walked out so confused and wondered what have I done. Although the film itself failed to make sense, it captured my attention and kept me on my seat trying to figure out what the hell was going on the entire time. It’s been weeks and I still think about it. Now that is real impact lol

  22. Once Coppolla said “I didnt want to use any “woke actors” for this film” I knew it was shit. It made me roll my eyes, and now I look at all the actors as MAGAs. Fuck off Coppolla!

I knew this was doomed the moment the fake reviews story came out lol
