Didn’t they do an internal study in Meta and came to that conclusion also? This is like cigarettes back in the day. They do an internal study, know it’s not healthy, but lie to everyone about it.

  2. They are trying to ban TikTok for being addictive. Even though all the other socials are just the same. All this shit needs to be regulated.

  3. There was a golden period of Facebook in the early days when it was solely about interacting with people you knew, putting up statuses with inside jokes, seeing what your friends and family were up to, etc.

Heck, I was one of the first people in my high school to make a Facebook account, and I did it because I heard you could play games with friends.

    It was truly “social”.

And then they unleashed algorithms on us, pushing influencers and ads, and getting people hooked on “content” to increase “engagement” became the ultimate goal. I feel for the kids growing up today who never got to experience the “social media” I had for those few years.

  4. Well, FB and IG are not *as addictive* as TikTok. But not for lack of trying.

They are doing everything they can think of to maximize addiction. That’s literally their business model.

  5. Probably hard to prove after TikTok internal documents showed 240 TikTok’s was all it took to get kids addicted to the platform
