  1. >Canada’s foreign minister on Monday noted that India is cooperating with U.S. officials but said it had refused to cooperate in the Canadian investigation.

    >Donthi said India’s diplomatic posturing against Canada was more aggressive because of the relatively low stakes.

It’s literally nothing more than that. Modi wants to act tough for Canada but can’t find his voice when the US makes the same accusations.

Besides, India is desperate for natural resources to fuel their economy, they need Canada way more than Canada needs India.

  2. Canada’s diplomatic relationship had been hijacked by Punjabi Sikhs. The same goes with Israel-Gaza. Everything happened on the other side of the planet, Canada gets all the blames.

Yeah that tends to happen when one country is meddling in elections and assassinating people on the other country’s land. Anyway… nothing of value was lost. We don’t really want to be friends with a country like that. They can go live their best lives in BRICS with China, a country that wants to wipe them off the earth lol

Northern India and Original India having problems. Maybe if Trudeau wears one of his costumes that’ll help. I can seriously just imagine Trudeau standing undecided in front of his costume closet.

What a shame though. Modi should come visit and see how similar our 2 countries really are.

Maybe they are SO similar, that the Indian operatives actually forgot which country they were in? That’s definitely possible.

We should suspend temporary work permits and student visas from India. That’ll show em

It’s ok. They produce nothing we need, except subpar customer service.

If Modi quits, id imagine they would repair themselves pretty quickly

Wow, just a day after a long weekend where a backbencher revolt against the PM was discussed. What auspicious timing!

  9. Maybe Trudeau should put on another Indian costume. It worked so well last time.

In all seriousness, this news doesn’t make me sad. The sooner we stop pretending India is our friend, the better.

  10. Do we want them to?
I think before we fix “ties” maybe India should start treating Canada as a foreign nation (and not assassination citizens) and Canada should stop treating India as a source of cheap labor for fast-food etc.

I am loving this. I don’t want us to be on good terms with them. Maybe this will stop the mass immigration.

I’m not even sure if ties ever really fully recovered from India’s lies about the purpose of a reactor we gifted them leading to their first bomb test in 1974. I don’t think trust ever came back and probably shouldn’t.

On a nation-nation level we should be purely transactional with them. They view us with contempt and have for a long time.

  13. Oh no! …. Anyway does this mean we can finally start putting caps on how many people come from one single country and instead actually have a diverse set of folks coming in??

  14. But we will just keep on importing Indians at record levels…because our government has fucking run amok.

  15. How about we pause on all relations w India including immigration in the meantime? Oh? We won’t?

  16. Disastrous-Aerie-698 on

Canada better not piss off India. Otherwise, Modi will sanction Tim Hortons and our diploma mills by banning international students from coming /s

  17. Will they though? I’ll believe it when immigration stats, length of line-ups at job fairs, and rate of change in average rents in the top 20 urban centers prove the point.

Obviously, on the surface, it’ll about saving face with diplomatic actions and well-scripted press releases…but what’s happening in the “real world”…??? Plenty of stakeholders in both countries, with tons of influence and money, have a very vested interest in keeping the status-quo “game” of musical chairs going on…

as long as Modi is in power things will be tense. This could change

Our relationship will be fine once they stop sending hit squads into our country to kill our citizens.

This is only news because it affects the pipeline of cheap exploitable labour for the handful of megacorps who run the country

We should stop processing visas from pariah states like India.
