He’s not running on accomplishments because he doesn’t have any.

  2. deviousmajik on

I still don’t understand why Texas didn’t get rid of Cruz two elections ago. Everyone universally despises him regardless of party.

  3. armchairmegalomaniac on

Colin Allred is an extremely impressive candidate. Ted Cruz is Ted Cruz. Even in deep red Texas, you have to believe that there is a chance sanity will prevail.

  4. Is this the first step towards turning TX blue? Or at least purple to a certain degree? I hope so….

  5. Mike_Pences_Mother on

Cancun Cruz in jeopardy? Say it ain’t so. Actually, say it is so.

  6. Gold-Perspective-699 on

I hope Republicans don’t go out to vote because they think he’ll win.

  7. LumiereGatsby on

    Hard to believe.

    Texans love Cruz.

    They keep voting him in.

100% to a man and child, they know he fled.

They know all that he’s not done for them.

    They still love him.

I hope to eat crow but my heart tells me he’s Texas boy.

Globally, Texas is known for Cruz. He is TX brand.

It’s not cowboys and football and cattle. It’s not.

Ask around the world anywhere about Texas and it’s Ted Cruz in the Top 3 things they say.

I mean I think it’s pathetic and sad that Texas had become this but they wear it with pride.

Again, prove me wrong Texas. Prove me wrong.

  8. Unusual_Flounder2073 on

Don’t worry. The governor will make sure the votes are there for him.

  9. ThomasJCarcetti on

Good. Not sure how he coasts to a win every election.

People are willingly voting for Rafael, that’s fucked up

  10. Troll_in_the_Knoll on

Some say the race is a toss up. I tend to agree. Everytime I see or hear anything about Ted Cruz, I want to toss up the last thing I ate.

  11. royhenderson771 on

Texas voting for the Canadian instead of the candidate from Texas is a perfect representation of the lone star state. Reminder, that star is a review.

  12. grandadmiralstrife on

I am here in Austin, and nearly 99% of the ads he’s running are scare tactic ads saying Allred wants to sterilize illegal immigrant children and mandate drag shows on military bases (that’s the newer ad, before that was demanding boys be allowed to play in girl sports and share locker showers). The other 1%? Oh, that’s the embattled Democrat DA in Harris county throwing her support behind him.

  13. I’ve been burned by this cruz lose hope koolaid before, but goddammit I will keep chugging it.

  14. I wish. Unfortunately, dumbass Abbott has put people in place especially in Harris County to prevent the Blue Wave from ever taking over.

    sigh.

  15. super_salt on

At this point Cruz isn’t even campaigning on his own merits as a good senator. He’s campaigning mainly on the argument that if he loses than Texas will be won by Harris and that would mean none of the swing states would even matter for the right.

    That’s it.

  16. >It also pointed to the candidates respective favorability ratings, with Cruz at 49 percent viewing him in a favorable light,

49% like Ted Cruz? They must only have asked likely republican voters.

  17. Funandgeeky on

I certainly hope so. I’m voting against his cowardly stupid face the first chance I get. Which is next week.

  18. OhhhTAINTedCruuuuz on

I’m not getting sucked into this one again. To almost quote a famous Texan, fool me thrice, can’t get fooled again.

  19. This would be a great flip… but for some reason Texans keep voting against their own interests, and re-electing this guy.

  20. Someoneoverthere42 on

Is he though? Being a better candidate or just a decent human being really doesn’t matter anymore in our elections

  21. BioticBird on

Ted Cruz already shits on his base and they love it. Humiliation kink down in Texas I believe.

  22. Bluegrass_Bourbon on

This weasel will win one more term, and then hopefully Texas will have flipped blue by 2030.

  23. Hello. Texan here. Voting for Allred and blue up and down ballot. Let’s go!

  24. The article says this, but I have seen a single Colin Allred sign in my entire neighborhood– _mine_.

I admit, in my heavily North Texas conservative neighborhood I have seen _fewer_ Trump signs and no Ted Cruz signs, I remember seeing at least half a dozen Beto signs. I’ve seen maybe two other Kamala signs.

I really _really_ want Texas to turn blue or even purple, and I’m going to keep voting like it’s going to happen, but I really don’t have high hopes for it. I know too many people that just don’t vote for a variety of reasons and they are all people that wouldn’t vote GOP if they did vote.

  25. Responsible-Flight37 on

This should not surprise anyone. If Ted was running unopposed, he would still be in jeopardy. He’s ted Cruz. Kissing the ring of the man who called his wife ugly and his father an ally of Castro. If it wasn’t for trump and mitch, he would be America’s greatest embarrassment. He could lose his seat even if trump carries Texas.

  26. bigpooperbarbie27 on

How can people vote for Ted Cruz? Like he left his constituents to die and went on vaca. How can he ever be elected again?!

  27. Red_Dog1880 on

I don’t really buy those internal polls, they are often designed to convince the base they need to donate more and work harder.

I’d be very surprised if Cruz loses, although I do hope he does because as we all know:

    >I do not like that man Ted Cruz

    >I do not like his far right views

    >I do not like his stupid chin

    >I do not like his smarmy grin

    >I do not like him with a beard

    > I do not like him freshly sheared

    >I do not like Ted Cruz at all

    >That man Ted Cruz, can suck my balls

  28. Eroticarnal on

Take nothing for granted. You must make your vote count to remove these shills from office. VOTE BLUE

  29. Present-Perception77 on

Oh please don’t give me this hope and then pull the rug. Uvalde elections nearly destroyed my hope in Texas.

  30. MysticKoolaid808 on

Granted, it could just be the media that I consume, but I really haven’t heard much campaigning against Allred except for their screaming that he wants to turn boys into girls or some bizarre shit.

Given what Republicans are capable of in the way they manipulate elections in their favor and how they’re already trying to pull out all the stops in 2024, I can’t say that the relative silence from Texas GOP is encouraging.

  31. If *Ted Cruz* is limping along in *Texas,* of all places, I can’t imagine what Republican internal polling says about *Trump,* lol!

  32. VELOCIRAPTOR_ANUS on

Allen, TX, Allred’s district, is a really nice place.

Fantastic community ice rink, shopping, schools are great, and it’s HELLA full of diverse people.

I hope he wins. Will be voting for him for sure

  33. AtomicBlastCandy on

There were a lot of ads during the Texas/OU game on Saturday. Not a single one showed anything positive about Cruz. Cruz’s ads were just bashing Allred over likely exaggerated bullshit.

Cruz’s dog (if he has one) probably hates him.

  34. Teechmath-notreading on

So the pundits are all yelling about close the race is, but internal GOP polling continues to leak out like this, Trafalgar and Rasmussen and others are putting out new ‘polls’ almost daily trying to boost Trump up, and all of a sudden, Trump has the energy to try to campaign…

I think that Trump is in BIG trouble (good) and we are witnessing a HUGE whitewash of him as a viable candidate
The media CONTINUES to treat this race as a race between equals, when Trump is more cognitively impaired than they claimed Biden was.

I think that the left wing is going to significantly outperform the polls and that there will be several surprises. We show up, we bring our friends, we make SURE that the votes are counted and shut the right wing fringes up when they start claiming shit before the election counting is even over.

    Let’s GO!

  35. Monocle_Lewinsky on

I’ve been putting a lot of thought into this and it really seems like it’s mostly because he’s a piece of shit.

  36. I certainly don’t expect Cruz to lose or the state to turn blue, but if it did – wow. That would be the beginning of an epic political realignment.
