The problem isn’t that JD Vance has a few empty seats. The problem is that he is a fascist. I wish the media in the US was more serious.

It’s hilarious they’d waste their time in the ghost town that is Johnstown.

  3. This is the best tl;dr I could make, [original](https://www.newsweek.com/jd-vance-crowd-size-pennsylvania-1968398) reduced by 78%. (I’m a bot)

    > JD Vance was met with multiple empty seats at a campaign event in the crucial swing state of Pennsylvania over the weekend.

    > Photos from The Associated Press show rows of empty seats on one side of the venue, while Vance is on stage speaking.

    > Trump responded: "She said people start leaving, people don't go to her rallies. There's no reason to go. And the people that do go, she's busing them in and paying them to be there, and then showing them in a different light. So she can't talk about that. People don't leave my rallies. We have the biggest rallies, the most incredible rallies in the history of politics.”

  4. Trump is a liability for the Republican Party. He will be replaced swiftly by JD Vance.

  5. JD Vance is Trump’s running mate because Vance will not uphold the Constitution and will do Trump’s bidding. That should be published everyday as a reminder for everyone until Inauguration Day.

  6. If Vance can’t fill a venue in a critical state like Pennsylvania, it’s a clear sign something’s off with his campaign’s momentum. That kind of turnout matters.

The Trump half of the Trump Vance ticket is the exciting part to his base. The GOP is bad but Trumpism fractured the party and the GOP realized it had to pivot or they knew they’d start losing HARD. The Vance showing here is likely the result of Trump not being in the same room, he only appeals to the weirdos, not the crazies that support Trump.

Regardless, I’d be interested to know if this is a common showing for a VP before Trump. If it’s not, then maybe this is significant.

The whole crowd size thing is so weird.

I can’t think of any reason why I’d want to go to a political rally ever. It’s amazing to me that anyone shows up at all.

  9. At least the interviewer was a person of color. For a campaign that’s supposedly widening its lead with black men, they couldn’t even afford one paid actor to show up?

  10. As a non-american (living outside of America) … I’m getting nervous for this. I realise I have no say in US politics, but it does kind of impact the rest of the world so we’re all a little on edge.

I keep seeing headlines like this suggesting everything is falling apart for the republicans but the polls still show it neck and neck. Are all the news articles being posted like this wishful thinking? Or is it actually falling apart for the gop?

That’s so funny, rally volunteers usually fill the areas one section at a time, filling up the areas that will give the best visual first. It looks like that managed to fill maybe two general admission sections and just scattered people out to make the rest look kind of occupied.

“Fascist rally has shitty attendance”. Fixed the headline for you Newsweek.

trump, who by the way is a serial failure monkey with 34 felonies to go along with 2 impeachments and has the vocabulary of a 7 year old with a grade 3 concussion has somehow managed to convince people he is a successful law abiding citizen who has the “best words”

the hell is wrong with people

He needs to have his minions do what Trumpster does, pay folks $50/ minimum 30 minutes to stay. Fill right up to become a packed house…for 30 minutes! Use donation $$ to buy gift cards, it’s simple! His boss does it!

Part of those empty seats are hopefully because of this!

So our Pennsylvania GOP wants to cast doubt on votes given up by our military serving abroad…

but then wants to use the military to go against their fellow Americans!

Well if it’s any consolation, JD, I see a lot of those folks are taking up two seats.

Misread this as “comforted by empty seats” and thought he had expanded beyond couches

  18. the scary thing is that assuming trump were to win, then pardon himself, i would not be surprised if vance then comes out trying to remove trump on the grounds of mental health deficiency. and look, he is now in the most powerful job in the world with his extreme viewpoints.

If you are a political figure and show up to a rally and there are only like 20-30 people there you don’t stay on stage and talk. You get down and take everyone to lunch or something, or put all the chairs in a giant circle.
