Seems like a hasty response to the recent MP pressure and discontent. They put Andrew Bevan in the job. He was already in the PMO.
You’re telling me they couldn’t have put him in the role right after Broadhurst stepped away if this is what they intended all along?
Seems more like they heard the complaint from MPs that they hadn’t even filled the campaign director role yet, and then just looked around the office and said, “Uhhhh, let me see…YOU! C’mon, we need to put your name in a press release, stat.”
The Liberal Party’s election campaign is now co-chaired by a Dion-Wynne alumni.
With such a proven track record of success, the party will no doubt soon start its path to victory.
>Bevan previously worked as chief of staff for former federal Liberal leader Stéphane Dion, the release said. He also served as chief of staff to former Ontario premier Kathleen Wynne.
I guess they got some real winners here?
All kidding aside, I can’t imagine anyone would want the job due to the stress involved.
One reason the previous guy quit.
More yesmen who will just tell Trudeau he’s doing great, and headed for another majority. The lack of a Gerry Butts type figure who is close enough to Trudeau to have frank discussions with him, without being fired for being pessimistic, leaves him completely out of touch, since he doesn’t realize how dire the circumstances are. His inner circle will tell him the polls are false, and people aren’t in decision mode yet, and he’ll believe it. The previous campaign director was fired for reaching the reasonable conclusion that there is no path to victory.Â
There will be no changes to the PMO or cabinet, it really is Trudeauver
Bevan’s well credentialed within Liberal circles. I just don’t think that he sends the right message. If the Liberals want to win, they need new ideas. And neither of these DPM and PMO appointments scream creativity and innovation.
